Lightwave Logic has recently expanded its portfolio of Perkinamine™ chromophores with the development of Perkinamine Indigoâ„¢ that represents a major achievement in the field of organic optical polymers. Independent test results recently conducted in our laboratories, Micron Inc., Photon-X and The University of Colorado Boulder Department of Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering have confirmed the outstanding electro-optical effect of Perkinamine Indigo™. The material has demonstrated r33 values in excess of 250 picometers per volt at 1550 nanometers while maintaining extraordinary thermal stability characteristics while also exhibiting robust resistance to photo bleaching.
The material exceeds the properties of Lithium Niobate by orders of magnitude in terms of electro-optical effect, and possesses remarkable thermal stability for an organic polymer material with the ability to survive CMOS process temperatures. This will enable the fabrication of organic polymer devices with superior performance that can operate with dramatically reduced power requirements.
